Ideal for comedy, cabaret and other showcases.

The Pen at Seven Dials Playhouse is a flexible space with a maximum capacity of 50.

The focus of programming in The Pen is comedy, cabaret and new writing. We are particularly interested in work at an early stage of development that would benefit from the opportunity to be performed.

There are up to two available slots each night in The Pen. We look to programme shows for run lengths from 1 night up to 1 week. The space is not suitable for shows with substantial technical requirements.

Submissions are open for Origin Stories!

In the first of our themed seasons, we invite artists to explore the pivotal experiences that influence who we are today and who we might become. Origin Stories is a celebration of beginnings in all their various forms. It’s about the moments that shape us, the narratives that define us, and the voices that rise up from starting something new.

We’re excited to hear your interpretations of what Origin Stories might mean to you. Whether it’s a  reflection on personal experiences, a re-imagining of a cultural myth, or a brand-new creation, we welcome any work that explores themes of identity, transformation, and new beginnings.

As always, we encourage a wide range of genres and styles—please check out our Artistic Policy for more information on what we might be looking for. And have a look at The House and The Pen to see which space might suit your work best.

We are currently taking submissions for our September to November programme. The current submission window will close on 9th May 2025.
